Birds&Bats Wine Productions - Wines of Momentary Destination
You may have caught wind that we will be launching our new range of liquids later this month, 'Birds&Bats Wines'. Aside the W.M.D.s we personally make, we wanted to start bringing back treats we find on our travels. This idea has given birth to Three Years Down - 2011 the first of many Birds&Bats Wines to come.
Bats will be winging it over to Chios, Greece in a little under a week in order to release this indigenous, red blend from its wooden housings, and shuffle it into bottles. After three years down in the barrel cellar it's primed and ready to go. All going well we will have a little less than 1200 regular (750ml) bottles and 480 magnums up for grabs.
Why so many magnums? We are lovers of large format bottles as they are better for ageing wine, make a bigger impact as gifts and are perfect for sharing around the table.
With this wine it also comes down to waste. Sadly the people who make bottles seem to sell them in rather odd quantities. Instead of having a load of empty bottles on our hands we managed to reduce glass waste by buying up a pallet of magnums instead. We could tack on that there is less glass weight to wine so this keeps the environment doubly happy. We are sure there are plenty of other good reasons to embrace the magnum but that's for you to discover when you next buy one.
Feel free to get in contact if you are interested in getting your hands on this limited release of Greek goodness. We get the feeling it won't be hanging around for very long so get in there while you have the chance.
In other news there's a few new spots to find W.M.D. - The Spectre :

D Vine Cellars - One of the sexiest wine lists we have seen in a while, with plenty of those available by the glass via the enomatics. Regular tastings and events are very popular with customers from across the capital. Book swiftly to get a seat.
Vinarius - The latest offering to Roman Road out east. A great range of exclusive boozes, light bites, tastings and in-house wine expertise. With it's chilled out vibe and a full kitchen on the way it might just make this part of town the new place to be.
